New Equipment Installed to Optimize Production Operations
"Industry 4.0" is a worldwide project, often promoted by local government bodies, which aims at integrating information technology into production by linking its various processes. This type of project strives to stimulate investments in R&D and technological innovation in the context of the 4.0 paradigm and the circular economy, with the ultimate goal of making industrial production fully automated and interconnected.
In the chemical sector, these initiatives are particularly useful for tracking and sharing information within the department. In fact, the use of data, computing power and connectivity makes it possible to collect information, analyze it and store it, thus supporting the optimization of production operations.
Technic Italgalvano has participated in this project by investing in new equipment, in particular:
- Two stainless steel smart mixers (one of which can be seen in the photo). To ensure rapid heating and cooling of the product in the tank, both mixers feature a lining along the internal part of the tank, where it is possible to circulate hot or cold water with the help of a thermoregulator. This allows the solution to reach the desired temperature in a short time, whereas the interconnection software makes it possible to check the data in real-time as well as retrospectively.
- A hot chamber, used for products that tend not to stay liquid at room temperature. The interconnection software allows you to monitor, manage and record the temperature and its variation ramps.
- The SpectroCube analyzer offers simple, accurate and high throughput analysis for a variety of applications, such as precious metals analysis, compliance screening and process monitoring. SpectroCube uses the ED-XRF technology, including a high-resolution detector and high count rate, to provide short measurement intervals, high sample throughput, and reduced downtime.
As mentioned, data traceability is essential to guarantee the efficiency of a system and the sudden correction of the error. For example, thanks to the software interconnected to the mixers, we can keep track of all the additions of raw materials and instantly control variables such as speed, blade agitation, temperature, etc. As the software retains the information, even after the product has been sold and distributed, it is possible to trace each step of the production process of a particular batch and verify its execution retrospectively.
This type of innovative equipment helps to ensure higher quality of the final product, thanks to the ability to quickly and easily collect, monitor and analyze information.
