Liquid Etch Resists for Decorative Glass Surface Finishing
Chemical etching is a common method of engraving, used in the manufacture of decorative glass. Manufacturers can create permanent etched images in both large sheets of glass (float glass) used in decorative applications (kitchens, baths, etc.), as well as in smaller glass items (such as bottles).
A thermal or UV curable etch resist or mask is typically applied to the surface of glass prior to chemical etching. In the next step, an etching machine enables and amplifies the corrosive reaction between the etching chemical and the glass.
A chemical etching spray (typically hydrofluoric acid) dissolves unprotected glass areas to etch the desired image. The resist is then selectively removed, exposing the etched pattern on the glass.
Technic’s years of chemical engineering expertise and production experience have resulted in the production of a line of high-quality, highly customizable liquid thermal and UV etch resist inks used in the chemical etching of decorative glass.
Our etch resist inks exhibit excellent adhesion and strip easier than competitors with no need for hazardous solvents. We customize the process to your specific needs and offer assistance with:
- Thinning products to required viscosity, based on customers’ screen printing or spray parameters
- Recommending the right product based on drying/curing capabilities
- Antifoaming agents sometimes needed in resist removal step
We’re always here to help you troubleshoot any issues that you may encounter.
