Engineered Powders Division Hires William Blasius
Woonsocket, RI, USA - Bill Blasius has joined Technic Engineered Powders as a Flake Development Scientist. He has been working in research and development with polymers for the past 36 years, in bench and leadership positions at global companies such as Unilever, Nova Chemicals and Clariant, and for smaller entrepreneurial companies.
Most recently, he was the Manager of R&D/Polymer Science for Foster Corporation, specializing in metal and ceramic filled x-ray opaque elastomers for minimally invasive medical devices. His hands-on experience includes developing applications in adhesives, coatings, rubber, textiles and thermoplastics. He holds 13 US and International patents for compositions of matter, applications of those compositions and consumer products including the invention and commercialization of Zylar (INEOS Styrolution) super tough, transparent acrylic.
Bill has taught “Introduction to Polymeric Materials” and is a frequent, invited lecturer on Polymer-Polymer Compatibility. He has been a member of the Society of Plastics Engineers since 1984 and is currently on the SPE Thermoplastic Elastomers Special Interest Group’s board of directors and repeat TPE TopCon co-chair. He is also a long time member of the American Chemical Society and Product Development & Management Association.
