Nickel and Boron-Free pH Buffer for Nickel Electroplating
Lodi Vecchio, Italy – Technic Italgalvano is proud to announce the release of Techni Buffer NiF, a new nickel and boron-free buffering agent for nickel plating.
For decades, boric acid has been used as a buffering agent for nickel plating. However, in Europe it has been classified as a dangerous, reprotoxic substance (H360FD) and a “Substance of Very High Concern” (SVHC).
Furthermore, boric acid is a salt and as such, it does not dissolve well in water. This makes adding it to the tank quite difficult, as it will be necessary to wait until boric acid is completely dissolved.
Techni Buffer NiF is a boron-free, liquid product, so it does not cause any of the above issues.
In addition to this, an increasing number of customer requests enquire about nickel-free additives, as nickel is also in the ECHA’s crosshairs and large companies are reducing its use across the board.
Techni Buffer NiF is non-toxic and completely free from carcinogenic substances, thus making it easier for manufacturers to be REACH-compliant and, most importantly, drastically reduce the risks to human health.
As the number of customers enquiring about carcinogen-free processes keeps rising in Europe, our R&D projects are now mostly focused on developing safer, more sustainable solutions. Our goal is to create a new generation of products that offer excellent performance, while improving the sustainability of plating processes.
